![Three arrested after man injured in Woodgate newsagent assault, Leicester.]()
This is Leicestershire -- A man was taken to hospital after an assault at a city newsagents. Police and paramedics were called to the Mercury News Shop, in Woodgate, near Frog Island, Leicester, shortly after noon, today. A passerby, who did not want to be named, witnessed the aftermath of the incident. "There were at least three police vans outside the shop," he said. "I thought it looked pretty serious as I saw someone being brought out on a stretcher and placed in the back of an ambulance." A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to a reported assault in Woodgate. "A man at the scene received minor injuries and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary fro a precautionary check up." She added: "Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident and they remain in police custody."
