Vale boss Micky Adams strongly linked with Blackpool job This is Staffordshire -- PORT Vale manager Micky Adams is reportedly in the frame to take charge at Championship side Blackpool. The Seasiders are looking for a new boss following the departure of Paul Ince and, according to Sky Sports, the club are considering an approach for Adams. The Vale manager is out of contract at the end of the season after four-and-a-half years at Vale Park, over two spells. Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has gone public to say he will offer Adams a new deal, but, speaking after Saturday's FA Cup defeat at home to Brighton, the manager said he had still not seen a new contract. Adams is likely to attract interest having led Vale to promotion from League Two last season and taken them to the fringes of the League One play-off places in this campaign. Blackpool's midfielder and captain Barry Ferguson is currently in caretaker charge at Bloomfield Road, but the 52-year old Adams would be an experienced alternative after a management career which began 18 years ago and has included promotions with Fulham, Brighton, Leicester and Vale. Adams has been at Vale Park longer than any of his other clubs in management. He has gone on record to say he is happy with the Valiants and would like to stay. However, he could be tempted by the chance to manage in the Championship once more. His last spell at that level ended in frustration when he was unable to prevent his boyhood club, Sheffield United, from being relegated to League One. Vale supporters' club chairman Ally Simcock said fans are deeply concerned about the prospect of the manager leaving. She added: "If we lost him I would be absolutely devastated. "He has been a brilliant manager for this club under some of the toughest conditions he could have faced, such as lack of funds and coming out of administration. "He has done a fantastic job, we couldn't have asked for any more. "I am very disappointed that he hasn't been offered a new contract with us before now. From looking at fans forums and speaking to supporters, I can't think of anyone who would want him to leave Vale." Reported by This is 2 hours ago.
