Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is one of the best, says Paul Konchesky This is Leicestershire --

*Leicester City's* Paul Konchesky says Nigel Pearson is up with England manager Roy Hodgson as the best boss he has played for.

Konchesky played under Hodgson for Fulham and Liverpool and rates him highly.

But the defender said Pearson, who has been named the Championship manager of the month for January and has masterminded City's current nine-game winning streak, is on a par with the current England manager.

"He is up there at the very top of managers I have played for," said Konchesky.

"He has shown a lot of confidence in me and I will back him to go all the way to the top.

"Roy took me to Liverpool and I worked with him for quite a long time, and I would put Nigel up there with him, tactically and as a person.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for him and I think a lot of the lads would say that as well. You can see that every time we go out and play.

"His stature in the game is excellent. When you are on a downer, he is a good man-manager and puts his arm around you.

"He gets everything across he needs to and the training is always enjoyable. That helps.

"It is easier when you are winning. It is when it is not going well that he really shows what a good manager he is. He knows what we need in those cases. We have experienced both here.

"At the moment, he doesn't really have to do much because we are doing well.

"He is very down to earth, and around the building with the staff he is jolly and really good.

"I have learned from him. He was a big centre-half in the top flight. The rest of his backroom staff can help us as well."

With a 10-point gap at the top of the table, City have a great chance to return to the Premier League for the first time in more than a decade and Konchesky said it is where the club should be.

"When I came here, it was because I wanted to get back to the Premier League," he said.

"It could be about to happen now and, hopefully, we can do it.

"We are on a phenomenal run and it is great to be involved in it. We want to keep it going."

City's trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest next Saturday has been rearranged for Wednesday, February 19, kick-off 7.45pm, due to Forest's involvement in the FA Cup. Reported by This is 19 hours ago.
