Two men have been arrested on suspicion of damaging Leicester's statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The artwork, which was paid for by members of the community, was damaged between 2pm on Friday June 6 and 1.30pm the next day. Graffiti had been sprayed on the statue, which stands in Belgrave Road. Two men, aged 19 and 22, were arrested in connection with the incident today. Both men remain in police custody.
