Leicester City have rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest for midfielder Andy King.
According to sources in Nottingham, Forest have made an enquiry about the availability of the Wales international but were emphatically told he was not for sale.
King was again one of City's most consistent performers last season, making 48 appearances and chipping in with seven goals.
It is no surprise that other clubs are coveting him and some of City's prize assets after their failure to gain promotion to the Premier League.
City have already rejected two bids of £1.25million and £1.75m from Hull for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and have reportedly slapped a £4m price tag on the Denmark international in a bid to deter more approaches.
Several other City players have been linked with possible approaches from other clubs, including Lloyd Dyer, who is the subject of speculation that Queens Park Rangers and Reading, both recently relegated to the Championship, want to recruit him. However, there are only seven names on a list of players City are willing to move on that has been circulated to other clubs.
Doncaster Rovers manager and former City striker Paul Dickov has confirmed Richie Wellens is on that list as he has been linked with a move for the midfielder.
Sean St Ledger has confirmed he is also on the list as he looks for a new club, while it is no secret Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns are also available, as is Paul Gallagher, who barely featured last season.
The other two have been reported as being Martyn Waghorn and, surprisingly, Danny Drinkwater, who was one of manager Nigel Pearson's first signings after returning to City in November 2011.
"Richie Wellens is a player I know really well – I've known him for a long time," said Dickov. "He's still under contract at Leicester.
"A list went out saying Richie and six other players had been released but they are still under contract. One thing I will say is Richie is the calibre and type of footballer we want to bring in to this football club." Reported by This is 2 days ago.
