Pavilion trio happy to get plastered This is Leicestershire --

Three Leicester College students have spent the start of their summer break volunteering at Thurmaston Bowls Club.

Callum Flude, James Jarram and Kelton Philips, who have all completed their Level 2 Diploma in plastering, worked on the club's new pavilion for a week.

Kelton said: "It's a good chance for us to put what we have learned over two years to good use and into practice.

"This is a good opportunity to get some real-life work experience and it is always good to give something back."

Thanks to lottery funding, the club has been able to build a new bowls pavilion which is part of Elizabeth Park Sports and Community Centre, in Thurmaston.

Staff at Thurmaston Bowls Club contacted Leicester College to see if any students would be willing to help with the project.

Callum said: "It's a great thing to do, to help the community."

Elaine Chamberlain, operations manager at Thurmaston Bowls Club, said she was thrilled with the results.

She said: "I'm really pleased with their work so far.

"All three are very professional, dedicated and enthusiastic. Their attitude and performance is of such a high standard." Reported by This is 17 hours ago.
