![Jury discharged in trial of Leicester GP Bharat Shikotra after failing to reach verdict]()
This is Leicestershire -- The jurors in the trial of a GP, accused of indecently assaulting a patient in his surgery, were discharged after failing to reach verdict this morning. The jury, of seven women and five men, sent a note to Judge Michael Pert QC indicating they were unable to agree on a decision, after more than eight hours of deliberations since Monday afternoon. Bharat Shikotra (52) denied sexual assaulting a male patient on a medical couch at Saffron Surgery, 612 Saffron Lane, Leicester, on September 7, 2012. The Leicester Crown Court case was adjourned for a hearing on March 19 to set a date for a re-trial. Shikotra, a married father of three, of Elmsleigh Avenue, Leicester, was released on bail. He has recently retired from the practice, where he was a partner for 20 years.
